Telephone Systems / Data Systems
Semcom Pty Ltd has access to many of the top manufacturers of telephone and data systems. Our Austel Licenced technicians are experienced in a wide range of telecommunications products including NEC, Aristel. Aria, Nortel, Commander – Telstra, Optus, Samsung and Erricsson. Servicing, site audits and inspections can be arranged.

Our Austel Licenced Technician can provide our customers the timely installation of their network system in accordance with the agreed project timescales, adhering at all times to current standards and procedures.

Structured cabling
We recommend that you consider network cabling infrastructure of at least the CAT5e standard, to ensure your computer network continues to meet your needs well into the future.
The most recently ratified commercial building standard for voice and data cable is the CAT 6 (capable of transmitting data at 600 Mbps).
CAT 5e is capable of handling data transmission rates of up to 200Mbps and the commercial building standard has been appended to EIA/TIA 568A-5.
CAT 7 (capable of running at 1000Mbps, is yet to be officially standardised)
Cable Types
There are three main types of cable used in structured cabling installations: UTP, STP and fibre optic. Most computer networks are cabled using UTP or 'unshielded twisted pair' as it is a versatile product capable of supporting most system and network protocols.
STP or screened / sheilded twisted pair is used in place of UTP in environments where there is high ambient noise or electro-magnetic interference, for example hospitals and military bases or government type secure installations
Fibre optic cable is used for high speed, high bandwidth applications. Fibre cable is available in two formats, singlemode, widely used in telephony and multimode suitable for network communications. Multimode fibre is capable of handling large bandwidth with high speed data transmission and is compact and easy to install.

VOICE CABLING
We can install all aspects of voice cabling including full distribution systems up to several hundred pair cables. We recommend that the distribution to your workstations be incorporated into your structured cabling system, effectively running your telephone system over your CAT5 cabling, giving you total flexibility.
Telecommunications Maintenance
We are able to offer through our affiliate company Tele Support Pty Ltd, a bundled maintenance solution on a contract arrangement to provide 24 hour maintenance services to support your company's telecommunications systems. Systems analysis and business requirements would be needed to determine a maintenance option suitable to your company's needs. |
